EXPERIENCE

FASHION DESIGNER AND STYLE BLOGGER | Lexicon of Style by Alexandra Dieck | 2013 – Present

I am an Austin, Texas native who recently moved to New York City to pursue my dreams as a fashion designer and style blogger. In my blog, I focus on teaching women how to re-envision their closets to get more use out of what they already own. I also design and sell digitally-printed silk scarves that are created by making patterns with pieces of jewelry I have collected through out my life. Each piece is inspired by my travels and experiences. I am working to build a new kind of fashion brand. I am not just another blogger or designer in the industry… My personal style and fashion designs communicate stories from my journey through life as I transition from Texas to New York and travel the world. I see fashion as a form of art, culture, history, and self-expression: the worst fashion mistake we can make is to look in the mirror and see someone else. My goal isn’t to be better than anyone else but different from the rest.

FREELANCE STYLIST | Click Models NY + Soho Street Style Magazine Photoshoot | NYC | 2014

I was head stylist for an editorial shoot for Click Models NY and Soho Street Style Magazine. The theme of the photo shoot was to be young, fun, but sophisticated. I styled pieces from Topshop and some vintage pieces from my own closet to create a story consisting of four looks that feature sophisticated and structured silhouettes while keeping it fun and edgy with the bold colors and bits of midriff. I think these outfits could be seen in editorial issues such as Teen Vogue and could also be described as Gossip Girl mixed with a bit of rock-n-roll. These looks will be published in Soho Street Style Magazine soon.

TEAM MEMBER OF UT IN NYC | University of Texas Human Ecology | New York, NY | 2013

I was one of the Textile and Apparel design students chosen to attend the University of Texas in New York City trip led by Iris Apfel. During this week long trip we met with designers and companies such as Kate Spade, Jenna Lyons of J.Crew, Old World Weavers, Linda Fargo and the Bergdorf Goodman Team, Alexis Bittar, among so many other amazing designers and companies. The selection of students for this group was very exclusive and most importantly, we were mentored by fashion icon, Iris Apfel. This was a tremendous learning and working experience.

ASSISTANT STYLIST  |  Austin Lifestyle Magazine | Austin, TX | 2013

Assistant stylist to Edith-Edie Henry for a spring fashion photo shoot for Austin Lifestyle Magazine. I helped style and run errands for Edie during the shoot. I was also on set helping arrange the model and garments during the shoot to make sure they were photographed nicely.

FASHION DESIGN INTERN | Gomez-Gracia | London, UK | 2012

Worked hand-and-hand with London based fashion designer Patricia Gomez-Gracia and her team. I worked in her studio 10-12 hour days, five days a week, for eight weeks. I helped with pattern making, cutting, hand sewing, embroidery, etc. In addition to design, I also helped with production. I helped organize and create production sheets and deliver garments and line sheets all around London. Also, I helped with sales. I worked for a few sales events and and made sales over the phone. Although I was labeled as the design intern, I got to learn and work with different areas of the business. Through this experience I got to really observe and learn about the industry as a whole.

INTERN | Fly Productions | Austin, TX | 2012

I worked at the The Art of Fashion Fashion Show at The Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I worked for Fly Productions, under Ms. Melissa D’Atillio and her crew. Fly Products is a fashion production company based in New York. Melissa D’Atillio’s past clients include Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Chanel and many more! I helped work the production set and coordinate the show.

DESIGNER | C.jane | Austin, TX | 2011

I designed and made scarves for C.Jane. I created these decorative scarves myself and presented them to Julie Copp, owner of C.Jane, where she sold them in her local Austin boutique. They were priced at 80 to 120 dollars each; they were an instant success and sold out immediately. I hope to continue this business with C.Jane as soon as I can manage my time with school.

PRE-PRODUCTION WARDROBE ASSISTANT | Gone Off Deep Productions | Austin, TX | 2010

I worked under Collin Wilkes as an pre-production wardrobe assistant for the local Austin film, Austin High. I helped alter clothing, create costumes, pick out costumes, organize costumes, pick up supplies and costumes, and preform finishing touches on the costumes.

FASHION INTERN | Linda Asaf Designs | Austin, TX | 2009-2010

Worked directly with Linda Asaf and her other interns to achieve production of clothing for her showroom and fashion shows. I helped photoshop pictures from photo shoots. I also cut out fabrics and pattern pieces for the production of garments. I created invitations for events and sent out invitations and newsletters via email. I worked back stage at fashion shows ensuring that garments were prepared to be shown on the runway. I also managed styling accessories to each outfit that would be shown on the runway. On occasion I modeled her clothing for events or shows. I learned a lot about the production of clothing and fashion show production.
