Look of the Day at New York Fashion Week FW15 Day 7
Day 7 of NYFW FW15… I never thought I would see the day (and neither did my feet). In case you haven’t noticed, these Saint Laurent booties have become the everyday shoe for this fashion week. Red may as well just be considered a neutral! There are many ways to work red into your spring/summer wardrobe. One of the best investments I think any of us could make for this summer is a red fringe handbag. You’re knocking out two birds (trends) with one stone—fringe and red.
Some girls are intimidated by this bold color but there’s nothing to be afraid of. Yes it’s a harsh statement color but it’s all about finding your shade of red that flatters you best. I have noticed that the berry toned reds (purple undertones) work better on me than the orangey reds. I absolutely love blood orange red on girls with blonde hair or light brown hair with light eyes. For brunettes and my fellow brown-eyed girls, I think we tend to look better in raspberry reds but it all depends. Some people are blessed to pull off any shade! Nothing contrasts better with red than white or ivory.
When my mom presented to me her vintage white Escada suit, I knew exactly what I need to do and how I needed to style it. The suit itself is so bold, I thought why not kick it up a notch and make it even more dramatic with pops of red and a matching oversized white hat… and who makes better hats than Lack of Color? This outfit is what led me to finally pulling the trigger on this amazing hat from Lack of Color that I’ve had my eye on—that and my love for Australia :). The Montana hat seems like a hat you could only wear once but I wore it twice in two days and I have worn it many times since fashion week. Totally worth the investment and the wait! I wanted red to be the only pop of color for this look, so I styled my black and white Empire State bandana Scarf tied around my neck to keep the rest of the look neutral.
This concludes my NYFW look of the day posts for this FW15 season! I hope you enjoyed them and please feel free to leave your comments below!
