Nicole Miller NYFW FW 2015

Nicole Miller FW 2015 at New York Fashion Week

This season at NYFW I am going to try out blogging about the shows a little bit differently – usually I choose my top 5 looks and share them, along with the photos that I personally took…which means I spend most of the show struggling to get a good shot rather than actually enjoying the moment. However, this time around I decided to leave my big camera at home and let the professionals in the pit handle all of the photography. No longer being saddled down by the stress of trying to capture blog worthy photos, I was able to actually live in the moment at the shows (while still taking notes and live tweeting my favorite parts of each collection).

Nicole Miller has always been one of my favorite designers.  Not for the obvious reason – her classic and timeless ruched (Polyester/metal/nylon/elastane) dresses, but rather because of her artistry, innovative patterns, and interesting colors.  Not only is she extremely talented in pattern design, but also in creating articles of clothing tailored perfectly for a woman’s body. All of her clothes are so flattering; what woman wouldn’t want to wear her pieces?  I actually wore a Nicole Miller dress to my senior prom! Her artwork is so eye capturing and there was nothing disappointing about this Fall/Winter collection.  This year’s collection was inspired by myth and fantasy with a strong push on folksy artwork and animal motifs. I felt as if I was roaming through a mystical forest watching wild creatures pass by me as the models strutted down the runway.  This was by far one of my favorite collections because I loved all the mixing and matching of textures and patterns. Nicole never ceases to amaze me!

Trend alert: Mixing and matching of patterns & textures and wide leg leather pants!
