A humbling side of NYFW that not everyone sees
I’ll keep this post quick since I’ve written to y’all about this before, but each year I can’t help but reminisce on how special this week long celebration of hard work within the fashion industry is.
As I have told y’all before, my first day in NYC after a long move north was spent finding my favorite pieces in boxes in order to look somewhat put together outside of NYFW the next day. I had no invites to any shows or events, and basically no connections as I had just arrived.
Over the past two years, I have been incredibly fortunate to not only make some of the most interesting, smartest, and creative connections within this industry, but to also attend events, shows, and networking mixers in order to grow as a professional.
Each year that NYFW rolls around, I always like to take a look back on the girl who stood outside of the shows, camera in hand, without business cards, a blog or an Instagram. If my growth has taught me anything, it’s that I have a lot to be thankful for and a lot more growing to do. It is my hope that each designer, blogger/influencer, model, photographer or beauty editor has these humble moments as well this time of year.
I pulled together my looks over the past two years from NYFW shows and events – isn’t it crazy to look back on things like this? My note to all of you as I head into a week of craziness: never quit your day dream! And also, remember that y’all are with me every step of the way through each event.
