Tommy Hilfiger NYFW15

Check out the Intro to Tommy Hilfiger at NYFW15 video AND the NYFW15 Tommy Hilfiger Finale!

Words can’t describe my reaction to my being invited to the Tommy Hilfiger show. I was so honored to be able to bare-witness to one of the biggest shows at NYFW. I had just gotten home from the Elaine Turner event and was sitting on my couch with my roommate Katie when I began checking my emails. Within a second I was jumping out of my seat and then collapsed immediately onto the floor. I continued to skip around my apartment with joy only to finally curl up in the fetal position on the floor… So to say that I was a bit excited is a huge understatement.

Tommy is a huge inspiration to me as a designer. He has always stayed true to his aesthetic, yet he loves to play with the rules of fashion. For instance… this leather jersey inspired poncho!? I mean who else can do that besides Tommy Hilfiger? This season marked the 30-year anniversary of the brand, so Tommy did it big (as he always does). The Park Avenue Armory was transformed into the most luxurious and high fashion football field that I have ever seen. I have attached some videos of the opening and closing of the show above so you can see just how fun this show was. This is the biggest fashion show I have ever gone to and was by far the most fun one. Overall, the collection was amazing. I loved all of the fur pieces, especially the fur take on the bomber jacket—to die for. There were also cashmere sweaters, boucle sets, and velvet pleated skirts, but my favorites were for sure the fur coats. Tommy pays attention to even the most minute detail and can make any fur coat structural and flattering (note the two top fur jackets). I love designers who are enthusiastic about their brand –you can just see Tommy’s love and passion through his designs and his show. It brought me such joy to see him run out after the show with a huge grin on his face. I only hope that one day I can achieve half of the things he has in the past 30 years.Trend alert: Varsity themed clothing, lace up boots and innovative fur pieces.
